Greenbelt Station, located at the Greenbelt Metro/MARC Station, is a metro planned community that will offer alternatives to driving by providing an extensive sidewalk and trail system, in-road bike lanes, a shuttle system to the Metro/MARC Station and pedestrian connections to neighboring communities. There will also be a variety of restaurants and shopping opportunities for both the residents and office workers to enjoy. One could actually live, work and play at Greenbelt Station.
Improved Beltway access will be provided with the development. Improvements to the local roadways of Cherrywood Lane and Greenbelt Road (MD193) will be made to improve the overall roadway network system as well as provide access to the development. A new bridge will be installed over Branchville Road that will connect the development directly to Greenbelt Road. Exciting and innovative street furniture, signage and landscaping will be provided throughout the community. Safe and convenient street crossings will be clearly marked by providing contrasting colors and materials.
In a public-private partnership with the City of Greenbelt, a recreational package will be created that will provide both active and passive features. Residential components will also provide onsite recreational facilities such as court yards, play areas, swimming pools, and fitness centers. A hiker/biker trail system through parts of the Indian Creek stream valley will be installed that will provide a connection between natural and open spaces as well as the neighboring communities.
