Open Spaces/Environmental Improvements

Scenic Indian Creek stream valley.

One of the most exciting features of Greenbelt Station is the 111 acres of open space/preservation areas within the Indian Creek stream valley. The stream valley consists of two areas, areas to be preserved and areas to be restored.

The development itself is being built on areas that have been previously disturbed by either industrial activities or the Greenbelt Metro Station.

Restoration of the portion of the stream valley that has been disturbed by industrial activities will include projects such as reforestation, stream improvements, the creation of wetlands and open spaces. This large and unique area will provide a natural setting along the entire development. Interpretive signage will be provided along the trail system to allow for educational opportunities.
